If it's not part of your regular driving route we invite you to take a detour and drive to the intersection of Market & Farwell in Mead where you will can see first hand the work taking place on the district's new maintenance facility, transportation facility and athletic/performing arts stadium. All three projects are part of a Facilities Improvement Bond approved by voters in February 2018.
Pea gravel is gone and paving is underway in preparation for installation of playground safety mats at Farwell. This project was approved by voters as part of the February 2018 Capital Facilities Bond.
The Highland Middle School baseball & softball backstops are in place. August 1st is the date set for grass seeding to commence. Highland, located on Five Mile Prairie, will open in the fall of 2020. Voters approved Bond funds to pay for this project in 2018.
Pictured is work taking place at Colbert Elementary. Pea gravel is being removed, additional blacktop area will be added and rubber playground mats will be installed thanks to Bond funds approved by voters in 2018. Farwell, Meadow Ridge & Prairie View will also have their pea gravel removed and rubber mats installed this summer.
Check out the progress made in the past two weeks on the Highland Middle School gym. The first picture was taken on June 10th and the second on June 27th. This new middle school, located on Five Mile Prairie, and approved by voters as part of the 2018 Bond, will open in the fall of 2020.
This summer Meadow Ridge is undergoing a total upgrade of its HVAC system. The job, approved by voters as part of the 2015 Bond, is so extensive the office staff has moved in with Learning Services (9921 N. Nevada) for the summer. Work will be completed prior to the start of school in September.
Earth movers are busy at the new stadium construction site. Located on land that previously housed old Mead Middle School, this new facility will be ready to host Mead High & Mt. Spokane football, soccer & marching band events in the fall of 2020. Funding for this project was approved by voters in February 2018.
