We are pleased to announce a 68-acre future school site has been purchased on Five Mile Prairie. The property is located north of Johannsen on the west side of Five Mile Road. The site was previously vested with Spokane County as a 170-unit manufactured home community.
Projects scheduled for completion during the summer of 2015 include: (1) resurfacing of the track at both Mt. Spokane High School and Mead High School, (2) new carpet at Brentwood, Evergreen, Farwell & Meadow Ridge, (3) new roofs at Brentwood, Evergreen & Meadow Ridge and (4) the remodel/upgrading of Brentwood portables.
We are moving swiftly towards hiring architects for the three Flagship Projects. These projects include the replacement of Northwood Middle School and full modernization of Shiloh Hills and Midway elementary schools.
The District has updated their bond rating and plans to sell the first set of voter approved bonds on May 13, 2015. Allowing for time to close/process the bond transactions, the district anticipates receiving the funds from this initial offering at the end of May 2015.
On March 10, 2015, Ned Wendle (Director of Facilities & Planning), Wayne Leonard (Business Services Assistant Superintendent) and Tom Rockefeller (Superintendent) met with representatives from OAC, the firm selected as the construction project manager for the three flagship projects (Northwood, Midway & Shiloh Hills). Preliminary scheduling was discussed including a review of the projects and the monies budgeted for each project.
On February 23, 2014, the Mead School District Board of Directors approved the selection of OAC to serve as the construction project manager for the flagship projects (Northwood, Shiloh Hills & Midway).
It's official - the February 10, 2015, Bond and Levy election results were validated on February 24th. Final YES votes were 69.67% for the Levy and 64.09% for the Bond! The Mead School District Board of Directors, administration, teachers, staff and students extend a sincere THANK YOU to the Mead Community for their approval of the Bond and Levy.
